RW brought the little sub back to the
pier and locked it into its dock. Pulled the water
logged saddle bags out, and dropped them onto the dock.
RW, Smiling, looked over at the
crowd converging on Dr Elkae and Professor
Thietris.
He expected their would be a
celebration here later, or felt there should be, and
looked at the huge cavernous cavern and wondered if
fireworks had ever been set off in here before. (Hint,
Hint to all the Graphic Guru's on this
thread).
It seemed to RW this certainly was cause
for celebration! An explorer and esteemed member of the
community who had been thought lost had been restored.
RW sincerely hoped it would be a joyous occasion for
everyone!
But, RW would have to miss it. He
would leave the saddle bags in the safe and very capable
keeping of Cordelia. There was just something RW liked
about her. Just seemed to be the kind of person that
when you were around her, it picked your spirits up. You
could sense it even in her office writings and messages.
After dropping off Elkae's saddlebags though, he needed
to head back to the surface, immediately. Unfinished
work(and a dentist appt) awaited.
"Yep, it
surely was shaping up as a beautiful day!", thought
RW! RW picked up the bags and walked away, whistling a
tune.."It's a wonderful day in the neighborhood, a
wonderful day for a neighbor! Could you be mine? Won't
you be mine? Would you be my neighbor?!"

Elkae reaches down and puts a damp palm
on her Relto book. She waited for the linking sound but
nothing happened. "Wet! Guess I'll have to use the
Nexus."
She heads toward the Nexus book podium
and then remembers there's no link to Relto there. "Okay
then, to the Institution." And then she remembers she
won't have a link for there, either.
She turns
to walk back and realizes everyone has left her. "Well,
hmmmm. Guess I'll wait here at the Terminal until my
Relto book dries. Or until the next Ferry comes
by."

to himself when he considered the unreliable cone
launcher and FrontMullet's remark about Stellaflora

As people begin to link in from the Ferry Terminal,
Bizzy hears the news that Elkae's been rescued. Feeling
both relieved and confused, the little gnome waddles up
to the Professor's office and lets himself in through
his beautiful little door.
He moves over to the
desk, climbs up and picks up Elkae's Gnome Tome.
Incredibly, he sees the image is still black and swirly.
"How is this possible?" he mutters aloud. Then a
frightening thought pops into his gray little head.
"That's not really Elkae!"

Michael row your boat ashore,

other side,

"Well, I can't sit here all day and sing
to myself." Elkae gets up and climbs the Great Stairs.
She stops first at the Kahlo Pub to see if anyone's
there. Just as she feared, it's empty this time of
day.
Next she walks over to the WSA
office.
Knock, Knock
No answer.
"Chuckles must be out on some tax mission," she says
aloud. She continues up the stairs to the Rotunda. FM is
out ... perhaps he, too, went over to the
Institution.
She finally decided to go sit in the
Library to warm up a bit. Someone is sure to find her
eventually. ________________ There's no place
like home.
As Veronica entered the supply store she
had a look of extreme puzzlement on her face. "What's
the problem?" asked Grizz. "I'm sure I don't know,
however I just saw and heard Professor Thietris welcome
Dr. Elkae home, but apparently she is in another
neighborhood all together! Curiouser and curiouser...I
am so confused. I guess all these neighborhoods start to
look alike after a while." Shaking her head in
bewilderment, she sits at the counter and proceeds to
eat the entire plate of fig
newtons.

Barry Bahro dropped us
off at the Ferry Terminal docks. The Institution is in,
I believe, one of the Kirel-styled Neighborhoods across
the lake. Since Elkae's never been to the Institution
she has no means of getting there except by boat. Once
there, she's hoping to purchase a KI from Grizz and
register it in the Institution's Nexus. [She currently
has no KI; she smashed her previous one at the end of
the MOTBC thread.] ________________ There's no
place like home.

absolutely no use to me!" complains Professor T as he
strides through the little door and slams it
shut.
"Ah, Bizzy! Here again I see. I've just
come from the dock. Elkae's back! She's looking well -
new hairstyle, sort of glamorous. You'd hardly recog-

Grizz smiled at Veronica and said, "I
sent you to Ae'gura through the nexus link, don't you
remember?" He shakes his head sadly. "Stay there, I'll
be right back." He walked to the Egg Room and picked up
a plate of food left behind by Kestryll and then brought
it back to the store. "You need to eat something, Nica.
You are looking a bit...off." Veronica grimaced in
embarrassment and proceeded to eat the
food.

Almech, who was in KIREL, drops the
deflated raft after seeing Elkae rescued and grabs the
nexus stands. He links over to his relto, drops the
stands, and links to the ferry terminal, discovering
Elkae.
Why do I always seem to
sleep through the adventures?
Bizzy is more animated than anyone has ever seen him.
For that matter, he's more animated than he's ever
been.
"Bizzy? What is it?" asks
Thietris.
"I don't know. I don't know.
Something's not right." The little man shoves the Gnome
Tome across the desk for Thietris to see. "It's black.
And swirly."
"Yes, I see." He sees, but he
doesn't understand. Bizzy begins to pace and flail.
"Nobody has ever returned from a calling once their
linking image goes black and swirly.
NOBODY!!"
"Yes, yes, you said that. I
remember."
"But Elkae's back!!"
Professor
Thietris trys to absorb the implication of Bizzy's
words. "Well, Elkae is known for doing some rather
unusual things ..."
"But if the image is black
and swirly, she CAN'T come back! She just
CAN'T!"
"Are you sure that's her Gnome Tome?"
asks the Professor?
Elkae, warm and almost dry, emerges from
the Library and heads down the Great Stairs to the Ferry
Terminal. If she were less tired, she would have jumped
down them as she was so fond of doing. She arrived at
the base of the stairs near the water to see Almech link
in.
"Hi! I'm soooo glad to finally see you," she
squeals as she throws her arms around his neck. "Did you
bring a boat?"
"Excellent!" Just as friends used to do
in Live, Almech extends his Relto book to Elkae. She
places her hand on the image and disappears. Almech
follows.
"Nice place you have here, Almech," says
Elkae as she waits for him to unlock the book and flip
to the page that will take them to the
Institution.
Almech flips the tab up and allows Elkae
to link first. He then grabs one of the nexus stands,
tosses out the nexus book, and links to the Institution
himself.
